Happy Friday!
It was another productive week in Madison and around our area. We were able to meet with many hardworking folks and organizations to discuss issues that matter to our communities.
I was able to sit down with representatives from the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging to discuss their important work and legislation related to grants for falls prevention awareness and initiatives. These programs are vital for helping our seniors maintain their independence and quality of life. I also had a chance to sit down with stakeholders on ways to improve the prior authorization process and improve the state’s cybersecurity.
I had a productive meeting with University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Chancellor James Beeby. We discussed recent developments and ongoing initiatives at the university, including the new construction of Prairie Springs Hall, and I appreciated the opportunity to hear about the progress they are making in preparing students for the workforce and contributing to our state’s economy.
We also met with Legal Action of Wisconsin to learn more about the critical legal services they provide to low-income residents around the state. We discussed the challenges they face and explored areas where we could work together to improve access to services for folks who may not be familiar with seasonal employment, the unemployment insurance system, or other challenges related to farm work.
Back in our area, we were able to attend the Outagamie Drainage Board meeting. We discussed shared goals, including educating stakeholders, addressing requirements from partner agencies, and identifying challenges related to drainage district operations and values. This collaborative work is essential for the continued health and safety of our local environment.
As we head into the weekend, I am looking forward to two great community events: the Wild Rose Car Show and the Fall-O-Rama in Waupaca. These gatherings are a fantastic way to celebrate our communities and connect!
I you have a great weekend!
