Committees
This week, I had the opportunity to participate in two committee meetings: the Committee on Judiciary and the Committee on Ways and Means.
On Wednesday, I attended the Committee on Judiciary Executive Session, where we voted on five bills:
-
AB 136 – Relating to the classification of the crime of impersonating law enforcement officers, firefighters, and certain other emergency personnel.
-
AB 148 – Relating to interpreter action by telephone or live audiovisual means in civil or criminal proceedings.
-
AB 195 – Relating to revoking a transfer of real property on death, disbursing deposits after rescission of wholesaler contracts, and filing satisfactions of judgment.
-
AB 433 – Relating to newspaper publication and typeface for certain legal notices.
-
AB 380 – Relating to suspension without pay in cases of judicial misconduct or pending final determination in proceedings.
All five bills successfully passed out of committee.
Later, I joined the Committee on Ways and Means for a Public Hearing on two bills:
-
AB 245 – Relating to modifying the sales and use tax exemption for qualified data centers.
-
AB 373 – Relating to creating a refundable individual income tax credit for the parent of a stillbirth and making an appropriation.
On Thursday, the Committee on Ways and Means had the opportunity to tour the Department of Revenue and take part in a Q&A session. It was a valuable experience for my colleagues and me to gain a firsthand look at the important work the department does for our state.

Cybersecurity Month
October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Since 2004, the President and Congress have recognized this month as a time for government, businesses, and communities to come together to highlight the importance of protecting ourselves online. This nationwide effort promotes awareness, encourages safer online habits, and sparks important conversations about cyber threats that impact our state and communities.
I look forward to sharing tips and insights throughout the month—stay tuned!
