Tax Relief Taking Effect

This week marked the termination of the 5% residential utility sales tax in Wisconsin, a provision in the budget that will save taxpayers almost $178 million over the biennium. The 2025-2027 budget as a whole provides $1.5 billion in tax relief by creating $695 million in retirement tax exemptions and expanding the second income tax bracket. Notably, the budget rejected $3.7 billion in tax hikes from the Governor’s proposal.

This budget builds on the successful efforts of Republicans over the past decade to lower taxes for hardworking Wisconsinites. As a result of our initiatives, total tax relief has exceeded $30 billion since 2011. It is critical for our state’s people and prosperity that we allow taxpayers to keep more of their hard-earned money while methodically improving our commerce. Legislative Republicans will continue the work to make Wisconsin a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Nuclear Power Summit Board

I was honored this week with an appointment to serve on the Wisconsin Nuclear Power Summit Board. This session I led on a package of enacted bills that advance nuclear power in Wisconsin. I am looking forward to continuing this work in my service on the board.

The Summit will be a key opportunity to showcase our state’s research, development, and manufacturing sectors—all of which make Wisconsin ready to lead in the nuclear industry. Nuclear power is crucial to meeting our state’s growing energy needs, and the Nuclear Power Summit is a vital step in laying the groundwork for and developing Wisconsin’s roadmap for advancing nuclear power and technology.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to highlight the support and resources available to all survivors and work to continue holding perpetrators accountable.

This abuse can take a devastating toll on those impacted, and it is imperative to recognize the value of providing meaningful support to survivors and expressing gratitude to those working diligently on prevention and response efforts.

One way you can support the cause in your community is by purchasing any item tagged “Candles Creating Change” from Door County Candle Co. & Candle Bar. A percentage of the sale will go directly to Golden House in Green Bay, which supports survivors of domestic violence and helps end domestic abuse in the community.
