Dual Enrollment Reform Passes Assembly

Assembly Bill 582 passed the Assembly Floor, an important step in forwarding Wisconsin dual enrollment reform.

This Wednesday Assembly Bill 582 passed the Assembly Floor, an important step in forwarding Wisconsin dual enrollment reform. The bill is the culmination of months of collaboration between multiple stakeholders including UW system, Wisconsin Technical Colleges, Wisconsin Independent Colleges, high school administrators, students, and more. I’ve heard from all the stakeholders about the importance of building a system that streamlines dual enrollment and makes it more accessible for all students, something that is at the core of this legislation. The bill also establishes a council on dual enrollment comprised of all stakeholders that will continue to improve Wisconsin’s dual enrollment systems. I am proud to author this legislation that supports higher education and will make Wisconsin a national leader in dual enrollment.

Stop Foreign Donations Act Passes the Assembly Floor

Assembly Bill 385, The Stop Foreign Donations Act which I am proud to author, also passed the Assembly Floor during Wednesday’s session. This bill requires that any political entity receiving an online donation must collect the Credit card Verification Value code (CVV) and a valid U.S. billing address. This legislation is meant to prevent foreign entities from influencing Wisconsin’s elections. Ensuring election integrity is an important part of upholding fair elections in our state, and Wisconsin elections should not be impacted by foreign interests. This bill ensures that online contributions are coming from the U.S.
