Dear Dr. Legates,
I recently read your article, “Yes, Virginia, There Is a Greenhouse Effect. No, It Won’t Kill Us.” in the December edition of The Reality News. While I do not have a doctorate in Climatology, I do have a fair understanding of both Physics and Chemistry. And a mind that hasn’t been infected with a bunch of climate-theory nonsense. Your article was spot-on. But there are a couple of things that I would like to add.
Since the formation of the Earth, the climate has been constantly changing. It changes every day and will continue to change for as long as there IS an Earth. “Climate Change” in itself is not new. Only the discovery of it as a TOOL for driving political agendas is relatively new.
“Climate Change“, the political football, is often measured as the change in average temperature of the planet. And how “man’s activities” affects that temperature seems to get the blame. That is, man’s presence on the Earth measured by CO2 production is increasing the planet’s temperature. But as you know, that’s a false flag. There are things that effect the planet’s temperature more than the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. The biggest culprit of real climate change is the Sun itself.
It is a well-known fact that our sun does not release energy at a constant rate. That rate constantly goes up, and it goes down. I fear that in making up their climate-change models, climatologists hold the value of energy put out by the Sun at a constant value and this gives them false data. Consider this analogy. The inside temperature of your house is the result of several factors: construction, insulation, outside temperature, furnace/AC, etc. But the biggest factor is where you set the thermostat. In other words, the inside temperature is mostly determined by the amount of energy applied from an outside source, i.e., the furnace/AC unit. Just like our planet, whose temperature or “climate” is controlled MOSTLY by the energy output of the Sun. If you change the setting on your thermostat, the energy output changes, and the temperature changes. The same is true of the temperature of the Earth relative to the energy output of the Sun. Unfortunately, WE do not have access to a thermostat for the Sun.
You also discussed the Greenhouse Effect relative to CO2 content and the effects of other gasses. But you left one important gas out: H2O. As you probably know, H2O, water vapor, is represented in our atmosphere at a much, much higher level than CO2. Water vapor also provides a much higher contribution to the Greenhouse Effect than CO2 on a per-molecule basis. Therefore, H2O has a much bigger effect on our planet’s temperature than CO2. Yet, you don’t ever hear any Climatologist scream for the banning of water emissions. Why? Because they know that we know that the atmospheric water vapor level can’t be controlled on a planet whose surface is 70% water. They’d look pretty silly trying to BAN RAIN, wouldn’t they?
David, I appreciate your work. Keep it up.
Jack
