Happy Friday!
This was a busy week with a great deal happening both in Madison and across our area. I was honored to receive the Wisconsin Association of School Nurses (WASN) Advocacy Award in recognition of our efforts to support our school nurses’ legislative priorities. We also met with a dedicated school nurse to discuss potential legislative initiatives for the next session. In addition, we had a productive conversation with mental health advocates and representatives from UW-Madison to explore current challenges, opportunities for improvement, and possible legislative priorities for the coming session.
Back in our area, we attended the Grand Chute Special Town Board Meeting, where leaders shared updates on the town’s strategic planning initiative. This long-term vision outlines future projects and development priorities for the community. We also met with Wisconsinites for Alternatives to Smoking & Tobacco to discuss legislation and other initiatives that could be advanced next session, with a focus on supporting small businesses across the state. Our meeting with the Outagamie County Highway Department was especially productive as we reviewed legislation from this session that did not pass and identified opportunities to improve and reintroduce those efforts next year.
Additionally, we had the pleasure of attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Orthopedic Sports Medicine Specialists (OSMS) clinic in Oshkosh. It’s wonderful to see more specialized healthcare providers expanding into our area and increasing access to quality care for residents.
We also had a meeting with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation regarding the WIS-21 project and continued to assist where possible with our local emergency management teams on the ongoing flooding relief effort.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful weekend ahead!
