Congressman Tony Wied’s Update: October 9, 2026

When I came to Congress, my number one goal was simple: representing the people in our district and delivering results for Northeast Wisconsin.

Too often, politicians in Washington get bogged down in arguments over funding bills and push important community projects aside.

Thankfully, as Wieders know, this past year, the House passed all twelve appropriations bills for the first time since 1997. That has helped ensure critical federal dollars can make their way back to communities across our great country.

As part of those appropriations bills, I was proud to submit multiple funding requests for projects across our district, ultimately securing $12.4 million for Northeast Wisconsin. This investment will support a wide range of projects, including a new water system in Kaukauna, an updated firehouse in Green Bay, and funding for the Appleton Police Department.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to see firsthand one of these projects that will have a meaningful impact on our communities. I joined Emplify Health Administrative Vice President Julie Bulin at Bellin Health Oconto Hospital to highlight the $1 million I secured for renovations to its infusion center.

This funding will let the hospital expand its oncology and infusion space, where patients receive cancer treatment, giving them greater privacy, comfort, and efficiency.

Every one of us has been touched by cancer in one way or another. Whether through your own personal experience or by watching a loved one fight this terrible disease, we know how difficult that battle can be. That’s why it’s so important that patients have access to the best care possible and that our healthcare professionals have the resources they need to provide it.

It is so important that we invest in rural healthcare and ensure that people in our district have access to quality care close to home. That is why I was also proud to support the creation of the Rural Health Transformation Fund as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which provides $50 billion to support rural healthcare across our country.

I am honored to have been able to help make these investments possible and to support the healthcare professionals who already do so much for the people of Oconto County and communities across Northeast Wisconsin.

As your representative in Washington, I will continue working with our hospitals, businesses, and local officials to bring more federal dollars home and deliver results for the people of our district.

I look forward to seeing this project and others come to life and seeing how people across Northeast Wisconsin will benefit from these investments.

Thanks again for starting your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of the Wied Wire.

District Update

Recognizing Service
[see featured photo above] This week, I met with Kewaunee County Sheriff Matt Joski to connect on issues facing Kewaunee County and how I can continue to be a partner for our great men and women in law enforcement in Northeast Wisconsin. It was great to learn more about the department, including the jail operation, and have the honor of recognizing Sheriff Joski for his over 30 years of public service. Thank you, Sheriff Joski, for your decades of service and leadership!

National Manufacturing Month
As we kick off National Manufacturing Month, I have had the honor to connect with so many of our great manufacturers right here in Northeast Wisconsin that are the backbone of our economy. This week, I visited Performance Pallet located in Seymour to connect with CEO Courtney Heagle and members of her incredible team to learn more about their industry and the company’s continued focus on innovation and sustainability. Thank you to the entire Performance Pallet team for hosting me and for all of your hard work!
