19th Senate District E-Update: March 24, 2023

It was another busy week down in Madison and in district! On Wednesday, the State Senate convened for a floor session where a number of bills were taken up for a full vote, such bills that were passed includes:

  • Delivery systems for epinephrine auto-injectors (EpiPens)
  • Classifying county jailers as protective occupation participants
  • Impoundment of vehicles used in certain reckless driving offenses

In addition to the floor session, my staff and I had productive meetings with:

  • WI Public Media and Media Educational Board
  • Grocer’s Association
  • ABATE
  • Board of Regents
  • Department of Workforce Development Secretary Designee
  • WI Women’s Council
  • Carpenter’s Association

Budget Update

The legislature is preparing for agency briefings that are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 28th and Thursday, March 30th. The legislature will hear from the Departments of Correction, Transportation, Administration and DSPS!

Wisconsin is at its strongest fiscal position in decades. Republicans will continue to do what we’ve done, and that is legislate fiscal responsibility.

The Joint Finance Committee recently announced their public hearing schedule for budget-related hearings, all hearings will run from 10am to 5pm:

This session, it is my deep honor and privilege to have been selected as the chair of the Senate Committee on Health for this upcoming biennium. My number one priority has stayed the same and will continue to stay the same: increase affordability and accessibility in health care for the state of Wisconsin. Additionally, I’m excited to share my legislation with you once we get closer to introduction, stayed tuned!
