19th Senate District Update: March 20, 2026

Happy Friday!

This week marked the final planned floor day in the Wisconsin State Senate, and the agenda was full of important proposals aimed at improving the lives of Wisconsinites around the state.

I was proud to serve as the lead Senate author on five of these bills. We successfully passed two key measures to make our higher education system more inclusive by incorporating greater input from academic staff and by strengthening the state’s dual enrollment program. In addition, another proposal I championed is now headed to the governor’s desk that will enhance the state’s drug repository program, helping to make safe, effective donated or reduced-price medications from other states more accessible to Wisconsin residents.

The Senate also approved legislation that unlocks $130 million for PFAS cleanup efforts while providing important protections for innocent landowners. I was proud to co-author this bill, which will significantly advance our state’s ability to address PFAS contamination and create a safer environment for families—especially those who rely on private wells for their drinking water.

Our office had productive meetings this week with representatives from the Midwest Higher Education Compact, the Wisconsin State Telecommunications Association, disability advocates, and the Carpenters Union. Thank you to everyone who traveled to Madison to share their perspectives and discuss the issues that matter most to them!

One measure I want to highlight in particular is Senate Bill 264, known as Gail’s Law, which has now officially become law. Beginning with the next plan year, this important legislation ensures that women with dense breast tissue will have access to the advanced supplemental screenings needed to detect breast cancer earlier—ultimately saving lives and reducing long-term healthcare costs. This victory is thanks to the tireless work of Gail’s family, breast cancer survivors, advocates across the state, and many others who fought for this change. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and persistence.

I hope you all enjoy the warmer weekend ahead! I look forward to seeing many of you at the New Dublin festivities. For more details about this event, click here.
