19th Senate District Update: March 27, 2026

Happy Friday!

This week marked the first full week after the close of the legislative session, and it felt noticeably quieter in the building compared to the whirlwind of activity in recent months. With floor sessions and committee hearings now behind us, the focus has shifted to the next critical step in the process.

We are now awaiting action from the governor on several of my priority bills that successfully passed both chambers of the legislature and are ready to be signed into law. These include a bill establishing a veterinary loan repayment program, which would provide financial assistance to help attract and retain veterinarians in rural areas and address shortages that impact Wisconsin’s farms and livestock producers. We also advanced a campground property tax relief bill, offering much-needed exemptions for prefabricated recreational structures at licensed campgrounds to support our state’s outdoor recreation and tourism economy. Finally, the prompt pay hospital discount bill would clarify that health care providers can offer reasonable discounts of up to 15% to patients who pay their out-of-pocket costs promptly, helping reduce medical expenses for families while easing administrative burdens for providers.

I remain hopeful that these bills—and several others I’ve championed this session—will be signed into law soon. Each one is designed to deliver real, practical benefits to Wisconsinites, whether by strengthening rural veterinary care, supporting family-friendly recreation, or making health care more affordable.

Our office also held productive meetings this week with representatives from the YMCA of the Fox Cities and the Independent Living Association. It was great to hear directly from them about the challenges and opportunities in their communities. A big thank you to everyone who made the trip to Madison to share their perspectives and discuss the issues that matter most!

I hope you and your families have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend ahead. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything our office can assist with.
