Testifying before the Senate Committee on Health on a proposal that would give more flexibility for Physician Assistants to practice in Wisconsin.
Happy Friday! First, with Veterans Day coming up on Tuesday, I want to thank all our service members who defended the freedoms we all hold dear.
This past week in Madison was busy with committee activity. The Senate Health Committee held a public hearing on several important bills. These included proposals related to minors injured by a gender transition and measures allowing chiropractors to perform school employee health examinations.
Additionally, my bill, which aims to grant physician assistants practice capabilities similar to those of advanced practice registered nurses, was heard, along with a bill I co-authored that would help streamline the discharge process from acute care settings, such as hospitals, into more appropriate care settings.
Separately, the Assembly Committee on Education also held a public hearing where two of my own bills were considered. The first bill seeks to establish a requirement to notify parents if a pupil is removed from the classroom. The second bill would empower teachers by allowing them to remove disruptive students from a classroom setting. These legislative efforts are designed to give teachers better control in their classrooms, promoting a more productive learning environment, and ensuring that parents are promptly notified if a child is being disruptive or has been removed from the classroom.
Closer to home, the meeting between the Winnebago Waterways and the Lower Fox River organizations was held. During this session, they discussed crucial collaborative efforts aimed at improving water quality and other vital conservation practices currently being carried out throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
I hope you have a good week!
