19th Senate District Update: September 27, 2024

Happy Octoberfest weekend to those who celebrate! I hope everyone has a safe and fun time whether you are downtown Appleton or checking out “Spurr Mansion” in New London during this warm fall weekend.

This week, I was able to participate in a broadband expansion event put on by Charter Communications. The purpose of this expansion is to provide high speed internet to rural areas where high-quality broadband service was previously unavailable. This is an important step in continuing to narrow the urban and rural digital divide.

I was also able to visit the Primrose Retirement Community in Appleton. It was great to talk with these staff members and hear more about the unique challenges and opportunities the industry faces in the future.

As fall begins, I also want to highlight the Fall Color Report from Travel Wisconsin. This interactive map helps identify when the leaves will be changing color throughout Wisconsin. The predicted peak color forecast for Appleton and Waupaca is the third week of October, while Oshkosh is a week later. Check it out!

Lastly, as you may have heard, Wisconsin has elections coming up this November! You can find what’s on your ballot, how to find out when and where to vote, and more at MyVote.wi.gov.
