Let’s Wrap Up 2/15 Session

AB 966 establishes privacy protections for judicial officers and a procedure for a judicial officer to complete a written request for protection of the personal information of the judicial officer and the judicial officer’s immediate family.

This legislation has been signed into law by the governor and is now known as 2023 Wisconsin Act 235.

AB 967 exempts a judicial security profile form from disclosure under the public records law.

This legislation has been signed into law by the governor and is now known as 2023 Wisconsin Act 236.

AB 970 adds keeping a place of prostitution to the list of sex offenses for which a person must register as a sex offender.

AB 972 increases penalties and requires a mandatory minimum code of confinement for a person who intentionally solicits a person who is at least 18 to practice prostitution or establishes a person who is a least 18 in a place of prostitution.

AB 973 will require mandatory training about identifying and preventing human trafficking for a variety of industries within 60 days of an employee’s hire and once every two years thereafter.

This legislation has been signed into law by the governor and is now known as 2023 Wisconsin Act 237.

AB 974 will expand options for victims of child trafficking to pursue civil action.

AB 976 allows any minor victim or witness under the age of 18 to testify via video in human trafficking prosecutions when deemed appropriate by a court.

AB 977 directs the Department of Public Instruction, the Department of Children and Families, and local school boards to design age-appropriate curriculum to be taught in grades 7-12, as well as all licensed employees, primarily teachers and counselors to go through training related to learning ways to identify child sex trafficking exploitation in the student body.

AB 978 would create a statewide Human Trafficking Council that brings together the key stakeholders of agency, law enforcement, and victim representation.

This legislation has been signed into law by the governor and is now known as 2023 Wisconsin Act 239.

AB 979 provides $2.5 million in (50%) matched grant funding to help assist anti-human trafficking non-profit organizations in providing the services to combat human trafficking.

AB 981 requires the Department of Justice, the Technical College System Board, the Department of Safety and Professional Services, and the Cosmetology Examining Board to develop instruction materials that will aid students in identifying and reporting instances of human trafficking in their profession.

AB 1068 requires the Legislative Audit Bureau to conduct an audit of every state agency’s use of AI to increase efficiency.

AJR 109, a proposed constitutional amendment, proposed to the 2023 legislature on first consideration, prohibits governmental entities in the state from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to, any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, public contracting, or public administration.

Saturday, April 27th, will be the Reedsville High School Baseball Brat Fry at the Reedsville High School Baseball Diamond starting at 10 a.m.

Saturday, April 27th, and Sunday, April 28th, will be the Mishicot Spring Archery Tournament at Jambo Creek Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.

Sunday, May 5th, there will be a Reedsville Baseball Fundraiser at the Reedsville High School Baseball Diamond starting at 11 a.m.
