4th Assembly District Update: May 8, 2026

Enhancing Local Infrastructure

In the 2025-2027 biennial budget, the legislature made significant vital investments in infrastructure throughout the state, all while bonding less than initially proposed by the Governor to avoid burdening future generations. Part of that process included ensuring that we balanced the needs of all communities so every part of the state receives necessary infrastructure allocations. The budget included many impactful projects throughout the state, as well as $50 million in the Local Projects Program. The most substantial inclusion, however, was $150 million in the Agricultural Roads Improvement Program (ARIP).

ARIP improves highways classified as local roads that provide access to agricultural lands or facilities used to produce agricultural goods, including forest products. The second round of funding for this program is now open for applications. The application process closes on June 29th, and awards are expected to be announced in October of 2026. If you are aware of any roads in your community that could benefit from this funding, please reach out to your local officials before the deadline. Infrastructure is a common priority for constituents and it is beneficial for the state to have such investments materialize.

National Small Business Week

I am glad to recognize this week as National Small Business Week. Whether it’s teaching skills and lessons to the next generation or circulating investments locally, small businesses represent the greatest contributors to our economy and communities. They make up a significant percentage of employers in Wisconsin and embody the achievement of hard work and determination.

Legislative Republicans have consistently opposed efforts to further impose undue tax and regulatory burdens on small businesses, recognizing the proper role of government in promoting local commerce and allowing the entrepreneurial spirit to thrive. I encourage you all to shop small this weekend to support the local businesses that our state and communities depend on.

Happy Mother’s Day

This Sunday is Mother’s Day, a special occasion and opportunity to express our endless gratitude to the women who give their unyielding love and devotion to their families. It’s a day to recognize moms and their unending sacrifices to guide, protect, and nurture the success of their children.

I encourage you all to celebrate and recognize the mothers in your lives as we express our utmost respect, admiration, and appreciation for our mothers who have given us the sacred gifts of life and unconditional love.
