This Week at the Capitol!

It was another productive week at the State Capitol. I participated in a press conference and attended four Assembly committee hearings, including the Science, Technology, and AI Committee, which I chair.

The press conference highlighted Assembly Bill 892, authored by Rep. Neylon and considered by the STAC Committee. Immediately following the press conference, we went straight to committee to hear directly from the authors and stakeholders on the bill.

Current statutes, written long before modern digital asset technologies existed, create barriers that limit participation and discourage growth. As other states modernize their laws, Wisconsin risks being left behind.

Wisconsin’s state motto is Forward, and our policies should reflect that spirit. Assembly Bill 892 moves our state forward by establishing clearer standards and reducing unnecessary regulatory obstacles, giving individuals and businesses the confidence to innovate here at home.

At a time when technology is evolving rapidly, it is essential that Wisconsin embraces innovation, supports economic growth, and positions itself to compete in emerging industries. AB 892 is a step in that direction.

Tech Council-WisPolitics Luncheon

This week I sat on a panel for the Wisconsin Technology Council, led by Tech Council President Maggie Brickerman, alongside Rima Alaily, who leads the Infrastructure Legal Affairs team at Microsoft, and Representative Darrin Madison. It was a great discussion about building data centers the right way in Wisconsin. Microsoft is a leading partner in this effort, and we focused on how the state can harness the opportunities data centers present while addressing potential challenges.
