Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This week, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network held their Legislative Day at the Capitol. I had the pleasure of meeting Judy — a breast cancer survivor, constituent of the 55th Assembly District, and dedicated volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Judy shared her powerful story and spoke about the organization’s top priorities, including Assembly Bill 263 (Gail’s Law), which I am proud to co-author alongside Representatives Cindi Duchow, Amanda Nedweski, and Senator Rachael Cabral-Guevara.
This bipartisan, life-saving, and cost-saving bill would make diagnostic breast exams and supplemental screenings for women with dense breast tissue more affordable — because early detection saves lives.
Please reach out to your state legislators and encourage them to support AB 263 — together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
Speaker’s Task Force on Rulemaking
Today, I attended an informational hearing of the Speaker’s Task Force on Rulemaking at the State Capitol. We heard from Scott Grosz and Margit Kelley of the Legislative Council, and Richard Champagne of the Legislative Reference Bureau, who shared valuable insights into how Wisconsin’s administrative rulemaking process works.
It’s clear that while our rulemaking system serves an important purpose, there’s room for improvement. We need to make the process more transparent, efficient, and accountable — ensuring that agencies operate within their authority and that the public has a stronger voice in how rules are made.
By strengthening oversight and streamlining the system, we can better serve Wisconsin taxpayers and promote good governance.
First Responders Day and Session
[see featured photo above] This week during Session, each district had the opportunity to recognize a First Responder of the Year. I was proud to select Officer Ian Seaholm (Ret.) for his outstanding dedication and advocacy for officer mental health.Officer Seaholm has been a strong voice in promoting mental wellness among law enforcement and now serves as a board member for OCD Wisconsin. His commitment to helping others—both in and out of uniform—is truly inspiring.
Congratulations, Ian, and thank you for your continued service to our community!

AB 34 / SB 25: Allows courts to issue criminal complaints in officer-involved deaths.

AB 77 / SB 66: Prohibits license plate concealment devices and establishes penalties.

AB 136: Increases penalties for impersonating law enforcement or emergency personnel.

AB 179: Updates lighting requirements for police vehicles to improve safety.

AB 199: Expands reimbursement for EMS calls when patients aren’t transported and supports EMS workforce improvements.

G.O.A.T. Committee Testimony
Last week, I testified in the Government Operations, Accountability, and Transparency Committee on Assembly Bill 277, which strengthens legislative oversight on costly agency rules.
For too long, unelected bureaucrats have made decisions without accountability — hurting our economy and limiting growth. AB 277 ensures taxpayers have a voice and that government works for the people, not around them.
