56th Assembly District Update: March 22, 2024

Murphy Bills Signed Into Law

This week two bills that I authored were signed into law.

Wisconsin-Ireland Trade Commission – 2023 Act 170:  This bill creates a Wisconsin-Ireland Trade Commission to promote and advance mutual economic interests between Wisconsin and the Republic of Ireland.  Improving trade between Ireland and Wisconsin will improve both our economy and theirs.

I was very pleased that Kevin Byrne (above, third from right), the Consul General of Ireland, attended the bill signing ceremony.  I look forward to an excellent working relationship going forward.

Highway Setbacks – 2023 Act 157:  This bill reduces the size of highway setbacks from 100 feet to 50 feet, giving property owners more use of their property.  Paying property tax on land you can’t use isn’t fair.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed Act 157, which reduces the size of highway setbacks from 100 feet to 50 feet, giving property owners more use of their property.
