Recently, Governor Tony Evers announced a new commutation system that would make it easier for convicted felons, including dangerous career criminals, to get out of prison early. This plan directly undermines Wisconsin’s successful “Truth in Sentencing” laws, which have helped keep our communities safe by ensuring that criminals serve the full sentence handed down by a judge after a fair trial.
I’m deeply disappointed that the Governor would push this change at the end of his term. Wisconsin families deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods, and crime victims and their families deserve to know that those who committed serious crimes will actually serve their sentences. Public safety should never be treated as a political afterthought.

UW Alumni Visits Capitol
[see featured photo above] On Wednesday my office hosted representatives from the UW Alumni Association who were in town for their lobby day. My staff talked to them about housing issues and capital improvement projects. The alumni pictured above are all from the Fox Valley. Thank you John, Nancy, Amanda, and Dorinda for stopping by.
