5th Assembly District Update: March 1, 2024

Local Wisconsin Department Of Transportation 1-41 Project

The I-41 project plans to begin construction in early 2024. The project will reconstruct and expand 23 miles of I-41 from four lanes to six lanes between WIS 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) in Appleton and County F (Scheuring Road) in De Pere.

The project will reconstruct one system interchange between the I-41 and WIS 441, and 10 service interchanges including ramp work at the I-41 interchanges with WIS 96 and WIS 441/OO. WisDOT will also build a new service interchange at I-41 and Southbridge Road.

The project will also replace the Wrightstown Safety and Weight Enforcement Facility with a new building that will also serve as headquarters for the Northeast Region of the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Nomination Period Open for Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin Board of Directors Election

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) is accepting nominations for eight seats on the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin (DFW) Board of Directors. Nominations will be accepted from March 1 through March 30, 2024.

District 11 – Outagamie county is up for election.

DFW directors guide the organization’s finances, formulate and set policies, develop long-range business plans, and maintain its mission.

DFW aims to be an advocate, marketer, and promoter for Wisconsin dairy farmers and drive demand for Wisconsin’s dairy products.

Through these initiatives, DFW directors have the opportunity to represent Wisconsin dairy producers and products, as well as be involved in activities that inform consumers about the dairy industry and its economic impact.

DATCP will mail nomination forms to eligible producers. Eligible nominees must be an active dairy producer who sells milk into commercial channels and lives in one of the affected districts.

Producers must sign, notarize, and postmark completed nomination forms by March 30, 2024 and include signatures from at least five eligible producers other than the nominee.

Nomination materials are available at http://www.wisconsindairy.org/board-of-directors/elections.

DATCP will conduct the DFW Board of Directors election from May 1 through May 24, 2024. Elected producers will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2027.
