Construction Season

I-41 Project Update

Beginning on April 1, 2024 (weather permitting), Capitol Drive over I-41 will be closed to traffic and reconstructed. Drivers can expect a few nights of full closures on I-41 during demolition, and traffic will be detoured using Casaloma Drive, Northland Avenue, and North Lynndale Drive. Area residents may experience nighttime noise during the overnight demolition operations. Other project closures starting in 2024 in Outagamie County will include the Rose Hill Road overpass, County N interchange and in Brown County, French Road/Southbridge Road will be closed between Creamery Road and Lawrence Drive.

Thank you to all who were able to attend our recent public involvement meetings. If you weren’t able to make it, please visit the project website and click on the meetings page to view the virtual meeting and check out the meeting materials for additional closure details.

I-41 Project website:

As always, safety is the top priority FOR ALL, whether it be the traveling public, pedestrians, bicyclists, our workers, law enforcement or those who respond to traffic incidents. We all can be part of the solution by:

  • Eliminating distractions
  • Slowing down
  • Giving yourself room
  • BEING PATIENT
  • Planning ahead

In addition to the I-41 Project between Appleton and De Pere, a separate rehabilitation project on I-41 in Winnebago County also begins on April 1. The rehab project will include reduced lanes and various ramp closures on I-41 between Breezewood Lane and WIS 15. At the Capitol

It is always a pleasure to have students visit the Capitol. This week we were joined by Kaukauna's New Directions Learning Community. Their teachers had them well prepared to discuss Wisconsin government.

I am always thankful for businesses that will share the work they are doing in the community. This week I was able to visit Fox Valley Wood Products where they specialize in wood pallets, shipping crates and boxes, as well as machinery skids. This award winning business is in its third generation of family ownership. Company President Jeff Van Zeeland provided a tour and information about the industry.
