Senate Health Committee
Rep. Goeben (left) and Sen. Rachael Cabral-Guevara (right) testify on AB 1035/SB 933 related to prohibiting discrimination in organ transplantation and donation on the basis of an individual’s vaccination status.
This legislation prohibits hospitals and transplant hospitals from taking certain actions related to organ transplantation solely on the basis of an individual’s disability.
The bill prevents discrimination based ‘vaccine status’ for the reasons of health, religion, or personal conviction a vaccine that:
1. Is authorized for emergency use by the FDA,
2. Operates through the transfer of genetic material into humans,
3. Has an annual dosing schedule (like the flu shot), and
4. Is for the prevention of a disease against which the
individual is protected as shown by an antibody titer.
Colleges and Universities
This week the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities had a public hearing on two bills.
Assembly Bill 1064
Relating to: funding for the University of Wisconsin System’s Wisconsin Institute for Citizenship and Civil Dialogue and making an appropriation.
Assembly Bill 1065
Relating to: prohibiting University of Wisconsin System institutions and technical colleges from using loyalty pledges and requiring them to make certain information publicly available.
This bill moved forward in an executive hearing with a committee vote of 9-4
