As you know, June is National Dairy Month, a time to recognize the hardworking dairy farmers who feed America and provide nutritious products for families across the country. Northeast Wisconsin is home to the best dairy farmers in the nation, and I want to begin this week’s Wied Wire by saying thank you.
I am proud to say that this month, our farmers can celebrate the many big wins we have delivered for the dairy industry. From the One Big Beautiful Bill to the Farm Bill and other commonsense legislation, supporting agriculture has remained a top priority for me and House Republicans this Congress.
When we passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act last year, we not only delivered the largest tax cuts for working families in American history and provided historic funding for border security, but we also secured major wins for farmers and rural communities.
These wins included provisions like exempting over 55,000 Wisconsin family farms from the death tax. It also includes $1.25 billion in Ag research and $2.4 billion in trade promotion. These investments will help strengthen American agriculture and create new opportunities for farmers for years to come.
But we did not stop there. Just last month, we passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act, better known as the Farm Bill. This legislation delivers long-overdue support for Wisconsin farmers and dairy producers by providing the certainty and resources they need to succeed. This bill strengthens protections for dairy farmers, improves price transparency, protects common cheese names in global markets, and includes my amendment to add low-fat yogurt to the Dairy Nutrition Program under SNAP.
On top of all that, I have been proud to support numerous other pieces of pro-dairy legislation, including serving as an original cosponsor of the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act, which allows whole and 2% milk in the school lunch program. This expands nutritious options and opens new markets for dairy farmers. I was also proud to introduce the BARNS Act, which would ensure farmers do not lose access to critical services during a future government shutdown.
Our dairy farmers drive our economy in Northeast Wisconsin, and I will always look for new ways to fight for them in Washington. During National Dairy Month and every month, I am proud to stand with our farmers and work to ensure they have the tools and support they need to thrive for generations to come.
Thanks again for starting your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of The Wied Wire.

Restoring Law & Order
After months of reckless political theater from Democrats — who chose partisan politics over the safety of the American people — I am glad to say that my Republican colleagues and I have passed the Secure America Act, to fully fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). For too long, we have seen Democrats demonize ICE agents for doing their job and enforcing the law. This has come at the expense of the American people and the safety of our nation. Keeping America safe should not be a partisan issue. As elected officials, we have an obligation to secure our border, enforce federal law, and keep Americans safe. Despite zero support from Democrats, these agencies will be fully funded through 2029. The Secure America Act modernizes and strengthens law enforcement and border patrol efforts, allowing our law enforcement agencies to carry out their mission in protecting American communities from harm. Now, this commonsense legislation has been signed by President Trump to restore law and order and keep your family safe.
Canada Plays Udderly Unfair
This week, the House Agriculture Committee held a hearing with several agricultural stakeholders to hear their perspectives on the upcoming review of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement, or USMCA. As it is National Dairy Month, I used the opportunity to highlight that Canada continues to undercut Wisconsin’s dairy industry by failing to implement its commitments under the free trade agreement. Last winter, I led a bipartisan letter to the Administration specifically asking them to make addressing this issue a top priority in the review process. Canada needs to be held accountable for failing to meet its end of the deal, and I hope these issues will be resolved while the USMCA is under review.
The Great Outdoors Just Got Greater
I was proud to co-sponsor the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act 250 this week. This legislation marks the most significant investment in recent years to enhance access, improve visitor experiences, and create new outdoor opportunities for our national parks and public lands. These investments specifically target high-priority deferred maintenance projects and will restore campgrounds, trails, boat ramps, hunting and fishing sites, and other recreational infrastructure. Additionally, it allows the Department of the Interior and the Department of Agriculture to accept philanthropic donations to advance these goals and creates a new sustainable funding source by codifying foreign visitor fees, a well-established global practice that will help fund the conservation of these natural areas. Just as generations before us chose to protect these lands, we owe it to future generations to ensure these treasured landscapes endure.
District Update
Hometown Highlights
It is an honor of a lifetime to represent Wisconsin’s Eighth Congressional District. Northeast Wisconsin is the best place to live, work, and raise a family and we have so many incredible people who call it home. As your congressman, it’s my honor to highlight some of our hometown heroes for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their communities. I recently recognized several constituents on the House Floor for their achievements and commitment to service, from law enforcement and student athletes to the incredible community leaders who worked day and night during the historic April flooding, they deserve the highest degree of recognition.

Click here to watch my floor speech commending local officials for their leadership following the recent flooding in Northeast Wisconsin.
Connecting with our Communities
[see featured photo above] I recently had the pleasure to visit New London’s Chief of Police Josh Wilson and City Administrator Chad Hoerth. It was great to witness firsthand the incredible work of the New London Police Department during a tour of their facility and to connect with Administrator Hoerth about pertinent issues in the community. I want to thank Chief Wilson, Administrator Hoerth, and their amazing teams for their hard work, commitment, and leadership each and every day.
Calling all STEM Advocates: 2026 Congressional App Challenge
Each year, Members of Congress have the opportunity to invite students to participate in the Congressional App Challenge, an initiative to encourage students to pursue an interest in STEM and computer science. The Congressional App Challenge is the official STEM competition of the U.S. House of Representatives and is open to middle and high school students of all coding skills in the 8th Congressional District.
How the Challenge Works: Students can enter the challenge individually or as part of a team of up to four members. Each participant (or team) may only submit one app and may only compete in one Congressional district. Official rules can be found here. The winning app in each district will be featured on the House.gov website and the CongressionalAppChallenge.us website. The winning app in each district will also be able to receive a copyright fee waiver. Students should register online and the deadline for submitting is Monday, October 26, 2026. If you have any questions regarding this year’s Congressional App Challenge, please contact my District Office at 920-301-4500. Happy coding!
