Congressman Tony Wied’s Update: June 19, 2026

From the moment we passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in July of last year, Democrats have continuously fearmongered and spread disinformation about what was actually in the bill.

Not only did this legislation provide the largest tax cuts for working families in American history, it also delivered historic funding to secure our border, invested in our farmers, rooted out waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government, and strengthened rural healthcare.

Despite these accomplishments, Democrats have repeatedly claimed that the bill was a tax cut for the rich and that it “gutted healthcare.” The reason they continued to spread these lies was simple: they had to deflect from the fact that by voting against this bill, they voted for the largest tax increase in American history.

For a year, they have spread these falsehoods and tried to turn Americans against this bill. That is why yesterday, I was shocked to see that Governor Evers tried to take credit for provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

On his social media accounts, Governor Evers posted about the Rural Health Transformation Program and stated that “we worked hard to secure $40 million grant funding to support projects to bolster rural healthcare across the state, and we’re thrilled these funds are now available.”

The problem is that the Rural Health Transformation Programs were funded through the One Big Beautiful Bill.

The fact is, Republicans worked hard to deliver that funding for Wisconsinites, and we did so with zero support from Democrats. This funding will help those in rural communities receive better access to healthcare and it is crucial that we deliver that for them.

I wanted to mention this today because the next time you hear claims that Republicans tried to eliminate rural healthcare, I hope you’ll remember the facts. I wish Democrats had supported this bill and the many benefits it delivered for our country. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

The truth is that Republicans are focused on delivering results for hardworking families, and this bill did exactly that. I am thrilled to see these funds reaching Wisconsin communities and for Wisconsinites to continue benefiting from this landmark legislation.

Thanks again for starting your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of The Wied Wire.

District Update

Honoring Suring Veteran Dennis Schuettpelz
[see featured photo above] I was incredibly honored to present a long-overdue Air Medal to Suring veteran Dennis Schuettpelz for his service in Vietnam. Dennis earned this recognition through meritorious achievement during combat operations but never received the medal he deserved. Earlier this week, we had the chance to make that right.

Thank you, Dennis, for your unwavering service to our great nation.

Made in Northeast Wisconsin
CMD Corporation is a machinery manufacturer located in Appleton that supplies equipment to the plastics and alternative fuels industries. It was great to tour the facility to understand the company’s daily production operation and how they have continued to innovate the industry. I want to thank Hans, Tim, Brad, and the entire CMD team for hosting me and for your hard work!

America’s Dairyland
I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with so many of our great farmers throughout Northeast Wisconsin as we celebrate June Dairy Month. This week, I visited Green Valley Dairy in Krakow and met with the Jacobs Family to discuss how I can continue advocating for our great dairy farmers in Washington. I was proud to support legislation like the Farm Bill and the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act that will create new opportunities and allow farms like Green Valley Dairy to continue to thrive for years to come. Thank you to all our great farmers here in Northeast Wisconsin who are the backbone of our economy.
