Laura Ackmann will speak at the July 14 meeting of Fox Valley Initiative. The meeting is free and open to the public.
The meeting will be held at Freedom Project Academy, 750 North Hickory Farm Lane, Appleton. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Ackmann is the Winnebago County chairperson for the nationwide organization, Moms for Liberty.
She will be discussing the history of Moms for Liberty nationally as well as her work in Wisconsin. Founded in January 2021, Moms for Liberty has grown quickly into a large national organization addressing the concerns many parents (and taxpayers and voters) have regarding their local public schools. This includes not only DEI and transgender issues but also declining student achievement in reading and math.
Ackmann will help us all understand not only the problems but how we can implement needed changes in our schools. One of those problems needing serious attention is how to run effective, winning school board elections. Most school boards are under the control of the teacher’s union and have political and financial support from the union at election time, plus they have much more experience in running elections. As a result, school boards tend to support the DEI, transgender, and woke ideologies. Focusing on these ideologies is preventing our children from learning their A, B, C’s, math, and our nation’s history and why our Founding Fathers gave us a Democratic Republic with the rights of the people defined.
