Happy Friday! This week, it felt like the fall season started early!
Down in Madison, I attended the Senate Agriculture and Revenue Committee’s Public Hearing. This hearing’s theme revolved around tax credits and tax exemptions. The bills include:
SB 69 – relating to: and income tax subtraction for certain expenses paid by a school teacher.
SB 286 – relating to: workforce housing and childcare award under the business development tax credit.
SB 376 – relating to: a tax credit for employer-provided child care.
SB 382 – relating to: modifications to the historic rehabilitation tax credit.
SB 379 – relating to: creating a refundable individual income tax credit for the parent of a stillbirth and making an appropriation.
SB 185 – relating to: property tax exemption for nonprofit theaters.
SB 291 – relating to: making certain child care expenditures eligible for the business development tax credit.
These bills will provide much-needed relief to teachers, parents, and many more. I was happy to see them move through the process, and now we will move on to potentially voting them out of committee!
In our area, we had a chance to tour the Fox Valley Technical School Surgical Technologist Program at the Oshkosh Campus. It was a great opportunity to chat with those folks and learn more about how they are training the next generation of surgical technologists. Additionally, we were able to attend yet another TDS Fiber award event for the Salvation Army.
Thank you to all the other folks we were able to meet with this week as well. We were able to discuss economic drivers such as our bars and taverns, ways to improve the prior authorization process, and ways to boost access to healthcare in much-needed areas of Wisconsin.
Lastly, I hope you have a great Labor Day weekend!
