19th Senate District Update: January 26, 2024

Hello! This week, Rep. Steffen and I proposed a retirement tax cut that would save the average filer over 65 around $1,600 on their tax bill. This was a part of a broader package that my colleagues and I introduced, cutting taxes by a total of $1.3 billion.

On Tuesday, I was proud to testify in support of allowing our Scouts (and 4 other federally chartered organizations) access to recruit in schools. These types of organizations have experienced significant declines in program enrollment, in part due to new restrictions on school access. The Senate Mental Health and Education committees also met on several other critical bills moving through the process.

The governor delivered his State of the State address this week, highlighting the responsible legislative budgeting which resulted in a state surplus, keeping the Brewers in Wisconsin, and the historic investment in shared revenue for our local governments.

I also visited the Fox West Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. This was a very informative visit and I appreciate them showing us around!

My staff and I were also happy to meet with:

  • Wisdom Wisconsin
  • Neurocrine Biosciences
  • Wisconsin Fuel & Retail Association
  • Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities
  • Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources
  • Board on Aging and Long Term Care
  • Fox West Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility

Next week, there are several committee hearings in the capitol! Two committees I serve on will be meeting, plus more bills I authored are continuing to move through the public hearing process. Here is the full calendar of events. I am also looking forward to many meetings around our area!
