2nd Assembly District Update: September 13, 2023

Regulatory Licensing Reform Committee

Welcome back! Last Wednesday, my committee held a public hearing on two bills:

AB 374 clarifies that no license is required to sell or fit an over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid and that a hearing aid specialist is not required to deliver a receipt to each person that is supplied with an OTC hearing aid. This legislation mirrors federal law on prescription and OTC hearing aids, so there is no confusion in the industry for specialists and consumers. I co-authored this bill with Representative Stubbs (D).

AB 382 ratifies and enters Wisconsin into the Social Work Licensure Compact, which provides for the ability of a social worker to become eligible to practice in other compact states.

Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee

Last Thursday, the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee held a public hearing on AB 327.

AB 327 would allow certain search and rescue organizations or recovery teams that use human remains detection canines to receive anatomical gifts for training purposes. Anatomical gifts are parts of the human body donated after death or amputation for transplantation, therapy, research, or education.

2023 First Responder Recognition Program
