Legislation Update
Bills Introduced:
This week, I introduced two new bills — LRB-5159 with Representative Sylvia Ortiz-Velez and Senator Van Wanggaard, and LRB-5183 with Senator John Jagler.
LRB-5159: Relating to the office of county board counsel in certain counties.
LRB-5183: Relating to including information about investigations of license holders in the online licensing portal maintained by the Department of Public Instruction.
I’m looking forward to getting these bills out of co-sponsorship and referred to committee!
Bills Referred to Committee:
This week, two additional bills received bill numbers and were officially referred to committee:
AB 749 — Relating to instruction on blood and organ donation in high school grades. This bill was authored by Representative Franklin, Senator Testin, and me. It has been referred to the Committee on Education.
AB 742 — Relating to regulation of lease-purchase agreements for personal property and creating a cause of action. Senator Tomczyk and I authored this bipartisan bill, which has been referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
I’m looking forward to these bills receiving hearings in their respective committees, moving to a vote, and—hopefully—being referred to the floor before the end of session!
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
This week, the Capitol celebrated the annual Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
This year’s theme, “The Learning Tree,” honors the incredible teachers and staff who help Wisconsin’s schools shine. It was wonderful to see students, educators, and families from across the state come together to celebrate this tradition. Thank you to all the speakers and musical performers who helped make the event special!

Pete’s Toy Drive
For the past 10 years, Pete’s Garage Bar and our local Wisconsin National Guard unit have worked together to bring joy and holiday magic to children through their annual toy drive. This partnership has become a cherished tradition in our community — one that families look forward to every year. Recently, they were informed that the Guard will no longer be allowed to participate, ending a decade of meaningful service and connection. If you believe this tradition should continue, please consider reaching out to the Governor’s Office and sharing your support for allowing the Wisconsin National Guard to remain part of this tradition.
