56th Assembly District Update: July 18, 2025

Giving Certainty to Foster Parets

The Legislature will continue to work towards passing a common sense budget, that has meaningful tax relief and sets responsible spending levels, on time again this year.Earlier this month I introduced Assembly Bill 328 to give foster parents more certainty in the adoption process. For many years it was common practice for counties to give foster parents a copy of the permanency plan for the child in their care. A permanency plan is a valuable tool to ensure that a child is getting best possible care. In recent years counties have stopped sharing this important information with foster parents out of liability concerns. My bill adds foster parents to the list of individuals who may receive a copy of the permanency plan. Knowing what a child has been through is vital to to being an effective parent. If foster parents are trusted with a child’s care, they can certainly be trusted with the child’s story.

On Wednesday, I met with new UW-Oshkosh Chancellor Manohar Singh in his office. We discussed how the recently passed 2025-2027 State Budget will affect UWO. We also discussed how the new credit hour requirement for UW professors will be implemented. Thank you Chancellor Singh for hosting me!
