Looking Back on 14 Years in the Assembly
As many of you know, this will be my final term in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Assembly rules say that we have to pause our E-Updates for the election season. So this will be the last email you get from me for a while.
In my time in the Assembly I have worked on seven budgets. Before I was elected, Wisconsin had a deficit of 3.6 billion dollars because of poor fiscal management. Since the Republicans gained a majority, we worked hard on sustainable budgets and being strong stewards of tax-payer money, creating a 2.5 billion dollar surplus. We held the line on spending and taxation, and we found ways to more efficiently provide services.
I am very proud that I was able to push through two major highway improvement projects close to home – the much-needed upgrades to Highways 41 and 15. In addition, I secured the funding for the expansion of the Appleton Airport, which is now a major regional hub, and is attracting business, industry, and tourism.
When I ran for office, we campaigned on creating jobs; next, it was creating high-paying jobs. Then it was about cutting taxes to keep more money in your pocket. We’ve been mostly successful. As I leave office, we’re fighting to reduce the Governor’s 400 year property tax increase.
I will cherish my time in office and for the trust you placed in me. Thank you for allowing me to be your representative!

Farewell with Staff

The picture above was taken earlier this month with my current and past staff members. I’ve been fortunate in my time in the Assembly to be blessed with outstanding staffers. Each and every one of them are committed public servants dedicated to moving Wisconsin Forward. I’m grateful for their service and humbled to call them each a friend. Thank you Alan, Mike, Steve, Michael, David, Christian and Diane for your hard work over the years!
