About the Mayor

Jake Woodford was elected Mayor of Appleton in 2020, replacing Tim Hanna who had served as Mayor for 24 years. At 29, Woodford was the youngest person ever elected Mayor of Appleton. Woodford grew up in Appleton, enrolled in Lawrence University in 2009, majored in government, and graduated in 2013. He went directly from being a student to working for the university as secretary to the Board of Trustees and assistant to the president. He resigned those positions when he was elected Mayor.
