Happy Friday! I hope you enjoy the start of the fall and the football season!
It was a busy week down in Madison, where we held a public hearing for the Senate Health Committee. We heard from a number of health officials and members of the public being considered for positions on various state health boards. We also heard Senate Bill 282, which is my bill that would make changes to the Board of Nursing by adding an advanced practice nurse and nurse educator. This will add a more well-rounded perspective to the board and better reflect the recent changes to state law with Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners.
We also held a public hearing in the Senate Committee on Mental Health, Substance Abuse Prevention, Children and Families. We moved several bills through the hearing process relating to adoption, out-of-home care, and access to mental health services. You can find out more here.
This weekend, I look forward to the dedication of the newest historic marker in New London. This is a longstanding park with a rich history. I am happy to see it get the recognition it deserves by being added to the National Historic Register!
FUN FACT: On Thursday, Capitol maintenance started work restoring Waupaca and Outagamie counties’ stenciling on the ceiling in the East Wing! You can see those photos below.
Lastly, I hope you have a great weekend (and Go Pack Go)!
